How do I see NSFW or sensitive posts?

Posts can carry a content label. NSFW marks adult sexual content or graphic violence. Sensitive language marks strong or potentially upsetting language. Both are hidden from you unless you choose to see them.

Turn on labelled posts

  1. Go to Settings and select Account.
  2. Under What you see, open Content preferences.
  3. If you're asked for your Birth date, enter it. It stays private and can be saved only once, so check it before you save.
  4. Turn on Show NSFW content, Show sensitive language, or both.
  5. Select Save content settings.

Who can turn them on

  • You need to be 18 or older, based on the birth date saved on your account. If you're younger, both switches stay off.
  • nook requires members to be at least 13. A birth date under 13 restricts the account.
  • Both settings are off when you create an account.

nook also looks for strong language in posts and replies. If it finds some, that post or reply is hidden unless Show sensitive language is on.

Labelling your own posts

To add the NSFW or Sensitive language label to your own post, turn on the matching setting first. A label you've turned off would hide your post from you too. See How do I create a post?

Communities marked 18+ have their own warning to get past. See How do I join a community?
