Posting and conversations

How do I create a post?

Every post on nook lives in a community. Open a community you belong to and select Create post, select Create in the top bar, or tap Post in the tab bar on your phone.

Write your post

  1. Select Create post in the community header. You can also go straight to Create a post.
  2. Under Community, choose where to post. Only communities you can post in are listed.
  3. Add a Title (up to 120 characters). Every post needs one.
  4. Write in Body, or add at least one image. A post can be up to 48,022 characters.
  5. Pick a Content label if your post needs a warning.
  6. Select Publish post.

Images, hashtags and mentions

  • Use Media to attach up to 4 images or GIFs, 8 MB each (JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF). Where video uploads are available, you can attach one video on its own instead. Add an Image description so everyone knows what the image shows.
  • Type a #hashtag in the body to link your post to that tag's page. You can use up to 5 hashtags in one post.
  • Type @ and a username to mention someone, up to 10 people per post.

Content labels

  • General: no content warning.
  • NSFW: adult sexual content or graphic violence.
  • Sensitive language: strong or potentially upsetting language.

To use NSFW or Sensitive language, confirm you are 18 or older and turn that content on in Settings, under What you see. A label you don't show would hide your own post from you. See How do I see NSFW or sensitive posts?

Drafts and retrying

Drafts save automatically while you write. If you come back to the same community later, your latest draft is restored. If nook can't confirm your post, your text stays in the composer and the button changes to Retry publish. Retrying never creates a second copy of the same post.

Some communities let only moderators start threads, and you may need to join first. You can publish up to 25 posts a day.

Edit or delete your post

Open your post, select the ⋯ menu, then choose Edit or Delete thread. You can change the text, media and content label, but a title can't be changed after posting. Deleting asks you to confirm and can't be undone. Replies underneath are kept. You can't edit a crosspost, or a thread after it has been closed to replies.

Reply, like, save and share

Under every post you'll find Like, the reply count, Save and Share. On a thread, write in the reply box and select Reply (replies can be up to 2,000 characters). Share lets you Copy link, or Crosspost a post into another community you can post in: your title, with the original shown beneath it. Your saved posts are in Saved. See How do I reply to, like, save or share a post?
