Creating and moderating communities

How do I create a community?

Anyone with an active account can start a community. Select Create community in the left sidebar, or on the Communities page.

  1. Enter a Name (up to 60 characters). nook makes the community's address from it. Select Change to pick your own.
  2. Add a Description (optional, up to 500 characters). The first two lines show on its card.
  3. Upload an Icon and a Banner if you like. Banners work best at 3:1, like 1500 x 500.
  4. Choose Public or Private under Visibility. For a public community, you can turn on Require approval to join.
  5. Tick Adult content (18+) if the community is for adult content. To do this, you must have confirmed you are 18 or older and turned on NSFW content in Settings.
  6. Select Create community.

The panel beside the form shows a live Preview in Communities, so you can see the card people will find before you create it.

Access options

  • Public: anyone can read and join.
  • Public with Require approval to join: anyone can read, and moderators approve who joins. You can add a Question for join requests and Accepted answers that let matching people join right away.
  • Private: only members can read it, and people join when a moderator invites them.

Token communities

To link a token, paste its contract address in CA. Its network is detected automatically. You can also set Minimum tokens to join, which checks members' verified wallets (Solana, TRON and EVM networks only). Learn more in token communities.

The community's address can't change after creation. Adult content stays on once it's turned on. You can create up to 10 communities a day. Official nook accounts have no daily creation limit.

Rules start empty, and every member can start threads by default. Change both in the community's settings. See how to moderate your community.
